I am currently on 95 mg of Methadone and have lost 2 wisdome teeth and have a root canal on a front tooth. One year later after finding a really good Primary Care Doctor he did a full screen of blood test which showed my vitamin D level was dangerously low as was my B12, So he started me on 55,000 IU of prescription Vitamin D and weekly B12 shots.After 2 weeks on the 55,000 IU of D my levels were back up to where the should be, However I have to take 2,000 IU of D3 everyday while still on Methadone, along with other Vitamins and Minerals. I still don't have half the energy or zest for life I had before getting on Methadone 11 years ago. If I had the money I would definately do the Accelerated Methadone Detox. I have tried 3 times to detox , once in the hospital and also tapering but my body couldn't handle the stress.

You're reference to Betty Ford Center as an excellent treatment program is incorrect and unfounded. The BFC has one of the worst rates of relapse in the industry. Also, the Ford family and their friends are no longer involved in the program because of the power-hungry executives that control the board.

im soo sorry for your loss chris. it was strange to read that story because i had a cat named beechnut, after the gum, and i got him the year before jen was born. i remember coming home from the hospital with jen and everyone running to see the baby and i had been away from beechnut for 5 days so i went running to see him. (sorry jen) but he went thru so many of my growing years and my move from new york to virgina. such big events in my life he was part of. he died when he was 16 also. i felt like i lost my best friend. i remember crying so bad and praying for the pain to go and a peace just came over me. i know some people think its silly cause its an animal, but they are family. remember delilah had a great life because of you. thats all we can do and you did good.

I read all of this and it makes me want to cry, literally.. I have been struggling thru the curse of addiction for years now and it's just a never ending cycle.. I thought I had found some normalcy with suboxone.. I thought I would be on it for a while and then get off.. Here I am 3 years later at 28 yes old begging god every day to save me before I collapse for good.. I had a good dr when I was living in Indiana and I was forced literally to come back to Pa.. Now I'm sitting here on about 80 mg of oxy ready to blow my head off just thinking about what's going to happen next.. I would love to find a good dr and ween down from the subs and get off for good.. But suboxone is a money game obviously.. And ya, when u don't have the money ur pretty much just f'd.. No place will help.. What's wrong with our society..?! People who genuinely are sick of the suboxone runaround .. Against the people who run en and sell en. Ha! All money that's all I see.. U got it or u don't.. If anyone figures it out god I'm ready for this to end but it's so hard!! Way harder than the dope ever was.. I'm down to the end of my rope.. Why are Doctors changing people to this drug, I need a hip replacement, (just had my left side done) Need my right side done (Hip), need a knee replacement on left knee and have severe arthritis in my right knee, have had 2 back surgeries, I am on Morphine sulfate and a low dose of Oxycodone, have been on the same dose for 3 yrs. and it covers my pain, now my Doc. is all over this Suboxone???? This is my 19th day off Suboxone.....still in the bed!!! I'm freezing all the time! My skin is crawling, I'm anxious and exhausted all at once. Can't sleep though but can't walk to the backyard without being totally out of breath so then need to go lay down again! Have horrible depression, was suicidal for a few days there but kept telling myself it would get better....well it's not getting better....I feel a 100 years old! No desire, or energy to do ANYTHING!!!! I tapered like I was told to do....what a bunch of bullshit!!! Suboxone should only be used by "in house" detox facilities and only for a week or two to get you through the worst of your opiate withdrawals. This long -term treatment is just another way to addict you to something that will eventually take you LONGER to get off. Pick your poison, it's all the same in the end. I'm sick of hearing from doctors who think suboxone is a miracle, it's NOT!!!! Some miracle, all I want is my suboxone back so I can feel "normal"!!!! But isn't that also what long term opiate users feel like? They have to keep using to feel normal! I don't know how long these withdrawals will last but I'm going to do my best to document everything I go through, then go see the best damn attorney in the great state of Texas!!!! Yah-f-ing-hew!!! It's extremely sad to see someone give up on themselves to the point that they'll willingly be on maintenance til the day they die.

I'm on 8mg, and am presently trying to find a detox in my city that will let me detox off this dose so I can then switch to vivitrol injections.

Unfortunately, the suboxone isn't "holding" me - even at doses of 12 & 16mgs. This is probably because of one of my psych medications accelerating my metabolism of buprenorphine. So while the Suboxone is giving my addiction its daily "fill", my metabolism rips the plate away from it too soon (usually in the early evening). Lately I've been having the odd lapse during these periods of craving.

It doesn't seem like any detox centre is that sympathetic to my cause either. In my country (Australia), most detoxes try to get their patients ..on maintenance.. , and here I am asking them to help me get off it.

I am totally addicted to cheese! When I feel down I actually melt a few oz of cheese in a bowl and eat it with a fork. I've been like this my whole life and have actually considered getting hypnotized so I don't like cheese anymore (but honestly, I can't bring myself to do it!). I have a friend of mine who is an addict and has been on suboxone for 2 years now. The problem is that the medication is so expensive and she takes it for a month then she runs out and waits for another month and the fills her medication....how is this going to help her if she is on it and off again...she goes through the withdraws very badly and i truly dont know how to help her...does anyone have any advise for me...I truly want to help her but dont know how...because she is using other drugs to kill her pain when she is out of the suboxone and i dont feel that is helping her at all...thanks in advance

I don't see the difference in this and other pharmaceuticals. There are MANY drugs available that we don't know what they will do to the body long term. There are many with dangerous side effects that we DO know about that are legal and prescribed frequently. I don't think making drugs illegal solves this problem. On the contrary. I think that if we legalize it, we can tax it and create income for our bankrupt government. We can also hold manufacturers responsible for quality control (which you state is one of the problems) and liability for what they are creating. You can't legislate morality. People who want to do drugs will do them anyway. Making them illegal just makes us feel superior.
