Most people do not place business school basics and drug dealing in the same sentence! The two seem to be complete opposites: one teaching you how to honestly make money and the other how to make money off selling poison to people you don't care about. They couldn't be more different. Or could they be more similar than we think at face value?
It appears that way. Turns out, that the basics taught in business school don't just work for million dollar companies, rather, they actually work for any industry. At the end of the day, all industries are about making money. In reality, there are what one would call 'small-time' drug dealers that make money but not in huge amounts. Then there are people like the deceased cocaine king Pablo Escobar who made millions bringing coke into the U.S. in the 1970's. Certainly, he had to be an astute business man using basic business principles in order to reap the profits for which he was famous!
I'd like to point out an article from U.S.A. Today on July 2nd, 2014 reported that business school basics are now being utilized in drug dealing today. It states about today's drug dealers, "They operate like a multinational business, even using the language of business, talking about minimizing losses and volume discounts," Chavez says. "They operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 30 minutes for lunch!" You can read more about it here!
