Bioshock and Death!

The rapper Will Smith famously rhymed about the state of most parents as they relate to their kids saying tongue-in-cheek, "parents just don't understand!"  One could argue both sides of that equation and probably still come out in a stalemate.  For sure, there are parents who are 'lame' and don't get today's youth and culture.  On the flip side, there are rebellious kids who think any words that come out of their parents mouths are stupid and embarrassing.  However, most parents, while they may not 'understand' the new school hip-hop language, know that it is not appropriate to hide heroin needles in their baby's diaper.  Unfortunately, it seems, not all parents got that memo.  I wish I was joking!

The Smoking Gun is reporting such a crazy incident today.  It appears that a man committed a robbery and later police spotted him on the street.  As they approached the suspect, preparing to arrest him, he proceeded to stuff 16 heroin needles down his child's diaper trying to hide them from the authorities!  Can you believe that?  I can.  I work for a detox center.  I've heard other stories that are about as strange but none have involved kids with diapers.  It appears we have come to an all new low because of drugs in this country.  Our hope is that this man, while appropriately held legally responsible, also gets the recovery assistance he needs so he can be a better person, a better father, and a recovering addict and not one who mistakes diapers for heroin holders.  Most parents do not set out one day to get arrested in such a manner.  Parents involved in addiction and drugs, however, may find this to be their fate as well. You can read more about this bizarre yet true story here!
