Misinformation on Addiction Exposed!!!

By
Chris Newcomb, M.Div.

Misinformation causes pain.  I'm not a strong mathematician and even I know that the equation in the picture above is incorrect!  However, sometimes misinformation can mirror truth so closely that is almost impossible to decipher the subtle but very real differences between the two!

For example, online addiction blog The Fix released an article this week entitled, "The Dumbest Article You'll See About Addiction".  Now, it gets a little confusing here so let me clear it up.  This article from The Fix was a rebuttal to an article written by Slate magazine writer Cristina Nehring who equated alcohol, addiction, and anti-depressant use are synonymous as the same problem.

It is important for the truth about addiction, alcohol(ism), and anti-depressant use to be proclaimed loud and clear.  Therefore, we invite you to read the The Fix article by Maia Szalavitz.

At The Coleman Institute, we believe in abstinence from all drugs and alcohol except those drugs prescribed by a legitimately credentialed doctor who is aware of a person's addiction history and does not prescribe any addictive substances due to that reality.  If you or someone you love needs to be detoxed off of opiates, alcohol, benzos, Methadone or Suboxone, please do not hesitate to call Jennifer Pius or Amy Stewart at 1-877-773-3869.
